Helicopter Cargo Charter

McMahon Helicopter Loading Cargo

McMahon Airborne Logistics' helicopter cargo charters allow clients to fly time-critical material from plant to plant without the use of airports in most cases. Not only does this save time with cargo handling, it also saves time on ground transportation to and from airport locations.

McMahon's fire-station-like-response time allows customers to immediately solve their supply chain problems without having to wait on bids or flight crews. Pilots are standing by for customer missions during McMahon's standard business hours, Monday through Friday. 24/7 after-hours and weekend service is available with crew call-in. McMahon's time-critical helicopter cargo service is operated first come, first serve and is 100% on-demand.

  • What is the advantage of using a helicopter?
Significant door-to-door time savings. When every minute counts, McMahon saves its customers' time by immediately launching a helicopter and flying material or personnel directly to their facilities. In most scenarios, this bypasses slow ground transportation, traffic, additional on/off-loads at airports, and airport taxi and clearance time.
  • How long does it take to get a quote and launch a helicopter?
Generally speaking, for known customer locations, McMahon can provide timing and cost within approximately 5 minutes over the phone. Once a trip is authorized by the customer, a helicopter is airborne within 10-15 minutes during business hours. After hours launch time generally takes 45-60 minutes.
  • What kind of weather can helicopters fly in?
McMahon's helicopter fleet is certified to fly in many types of weather conditions including rain, snow, and high winds. Like all aircraft, cloud ceilings, and/or poor visibility can affect helicopter service availability. Weather conditions often change drastically by the mile, and not necessarily by the region. Conditions may also change rapidly (for the better or worse) over short periods of time. It is always recommended to call and confirm coverage availability with our staff. We can tell you immediately if weather conditions will be a factor based on detailed aviation weather data.
  • Can helicopters fly at night?
    Yes.
  • How do I determine if McMahon can land at my facility?
McMahon's logistics staff will review your address information and provide you with our landing site requirements while on the phone. If we determine that there are no viable locations on the property, we will provide you with timing from the nearest local airport and setup ground service (if required). Since McMahon does not require a runway for takeoff and landing, the airport size does not matter unless certain ground handling or fuel services are required for the trip. This allows McMahon to utilize hundreds of small airports inaccessible to jet charters.
  • How much weight can the helicopter carry?
Depending on the fuel load and equipment, McMahon's fleet can take approximately 1,200 - 1,400 lbs. per helicopter with a full fuel load.
  • Is your helicopter fleet forklift-loadable?
Yes. McMahon's fleet can be forklift-loaded with industry standard-size returnable containers and pallets.
  • Can shipments be tracked?
Yes. All shipments can be tracked in real-time using McMahon's proprietary web and iOS applications. Milestones are updated throughout the shipment. Graphical map and chat functionality is also available. Map tracking is unavailable for the segments of a shipment requiring third-party ground transportation.
  • Does McMahon provide ground transportation services?
Yes. If we cannot land at your facility, we will arrange for a carrier to pickup or drop-off the material. If the facility is in the SE Michigan area, McMahon will send one of our own ground assets.
